Following the success of the 'Terrier', Stroudley provided the London Brighton&South Coast Railway with a dedicated passenger version the 'D' 0-4-2T in the 1873. A goods version appeared the following , this was the 'E', to then become called the 'E1'
78 examples were built in 1874 and lasted on the Isle Of Wight unit 1960 while the last 'E1' on the mainland was not condemned until July 1961. B110 still survives on the Isle or Wight Steam Railway
These locos worked through out the LBSCR, including Southampton docks and the Isle Of Wight.
This model has a Marsh boiler but Stroudley chimney.
